Seal Management
In the framework of the Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation, the conservation and management of the Wadden Sea harbour seal population is of high importance. For your information, all trilateral activities, existing instruments and agreements regarding seals in the Wadden Sea are given in a short overview: Trilateral Conservation and Management of the Wadden Sea Seal Population

Currently in operation is the third Seal Management Plan, which is valid for the period 2007-2010.
The first "Conservation and Management Plan for the Wadden Sea Seal Population 1996 - 2000", was adopted in March 1996 and prolonged until 2001. At the Esbjerg II Conference (October 31, 2001) the second Seal Management Plan was adopted for the period 2002-2006.

The number of counted seals in the Wadden Sea is published every year. Information about the Seal Epidemic 2002 has been compiled by the CWSS here

The Proceedings of the Texel Symposium "Management of North Sea Harbour and Grey Seal Populations", 29 - 30 November 2002 were published as "Wadden Sea Ecosystem No. 17" in 2003.
