Work Packages

 
Work Package 1: Project Management

Lead: Common Wadden Sea Secretariat (CWSS)
 

Ensure the fulfillment of obligations (i.e. milestones, deliverables) as pointed out in the project proposal (internal and external communication; guidance and assistance of the project partners and administrative duties).

 

Activity 1: Preparation and organization of regular meetings of the project group (project partners) and advisory group (TG-STS). Coordination, administration and facilitation of project activities and regional workshops. Participation in lead partner seminars.

 

Activity 2: Monitoring of project implementation and delivery of progress reports including financial reports.

 

Activity 3: Preparation and organization of a final PROWAD stakeholder conference to present and evaluate the project results.

 

 
Work Package 2: Publicity and Communication

Activity 1: Preparation of a PROWAD communication plan and adoption by the project partners publicizing the work of the project (10/2011 – 11/2011)

Activity 2: Development and dissemination of a basic corporate design for internal and external communication, including tagline, a message and a logo (for project activities, reports, info material, website) (11/2011 – 03/2012)

Activity 3: Organization of stakeholder meetings and workshops to inform relevant local and regional partners about the aims, progress and products (11/2011 – 05/2014)

Activity 4: Dissemination of info material and project results to inform and involve local, regional, national stakeholders, as well as international level. Information of media (press, radio, TV, internet) (11/2011 – 05/2014)

 

 
Work Package 3: Sustainable Tourism Strategy

Activity 1: Inventory and review of the current status of tourism in the Wadden Sea region to identify opportunities and challenges of the World Heritage designation and possible developments in the tourism sector (10/2011 – 02/2012)

 

Activity 2: Regional stakeholder workshops to find a common understanding for the developing of a sustainable tourism strategy and to show the added value of the World Heritage designation for socio-economic development and nature values.

Development of visions, aims and principles for sustainable tourism and the relevance for regional development and benefits. Development of a draft tourism strategy through consultations with the regional stakeholders (03/2012 – 11/2012)

 

Activity 3: Development of an action plan which can be implemented by the regional partners and contain concrete marketable tourism offers and products (in line with main principles) to be developed on a transnational level (12/2012 – 03/2012)

 

 
Work Package 4: Development of sustainable tourism offers

Activity 1: Feasibility study for a climate neutral tourism in the Wadden Sea (WWF) (01/2012 – 06/2012)

 

Activity 2: Inventory and documentation of ideas for sustainable tourism offers in the Wadden Sea World Heritage region. Guidance for inclusion of sustainability elements in tourism offers (WWF) (06/2012 – 06/2013)

 

Activity 3: Development of a guidance for sustainable nature experience in the Wadden Sea for the general public and school class trips (WWF) (01/2013 – 12/2013)

 

Activity 4: Development of marketable tourism offers for various target groups (national and international audiences) on the basis of the agreed action plan (CWSS) (01/2013 – 09/2013)

 

 
Work Package 5: Promotion and Marketing of the Wadden Sea

Activity 1: Preparation of information material including educational resources on Wadden Sea nature experience (promotion)n aimed at the general public and school classes to support sustainable nature-oriented tourism (WWF) (01/2012 – 12/2013)

 

Activity 2: Development of annual joint communication and marketing campaigns for specific target groups on the framework of the action plan (01/2013 – 06/2014)

 

Activity 3: Communication and marketing of nature-oriented offers and products to local and regional stakeholders (internal) and to national and international tour operators (external) as well as to potential visitors. Development of exhibition material to support sustainable tourism on local basis (03/2013 – 06/2014)

 

Activity 4: Extension of the official World Heritage website with promotion and marketing functionalities (03/2013 – 12/2013)
