On August 20 and 21, 2018, the heads of the secretariats of the European Water Commissions and Conventions and the Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation gathered for their annual meeting at the CWSS premises in Wilhelmshaven. The representatives of the various secretariats shared updates on the work of their respective organizations and discussed a wide range of topics of common interest. On the agenda were issues such as climate change, alien species, fish migration, sediment management, plastic waste and riverine-marine cooperation. On the second day of the meeting, participants had the opportunity to visit the UNESCO Wadden Sea World Heritage Visitor’s Center in Wilhemshaven and a boat trip allowed them to gain a first-hand impression of the Wadden Sea.
Next year’s meeting is scheduled to take place in Koblenz, Germany and will be hosted jointly by the International Commission for the Protection of the Rhine and the International Commissions for the Protection of the Moselle and the Saar.
