The City of Wilhelmshaven as awarding authority has made the requisite documents for the architectural competition for the new building for the Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation available on its website. A preliminary EU-wide application procedure has started to select 12 participants (architects in cooperation with landscape architects).

On 15 March 2017 the Minister of Environmental Affairs of Lower Saxony, Stefan Wenzel, and the Mayor of the City of Wilhelmshaven, Andreas Wagner, signed a cooperation agreement on the new Trilateral Wadden Sea World Heritage Partnership Center to be built in Wilhelmshaven.

A new milestone has been reached in the preparations for the construction of the trilateral Wadden Sea World Heritage Partnership Center.

Joyful faces despite the bitter cold: Dorte Mandrup, winner of the international architectural competition for the construction of the trilateral Wadden Sea World Heritage Partnership Center, visited Wilhelmshaven.

During the two-week Wadden Sea World Heritage Summer School 2018, taking place from 18 - 31 August 2018, master students and (early) PhD students explore the natural dynamics of the Wadden Sea.

In 2016, CWSS initiated an annual jour fixe of the Secretariats of the three German natural World Heritage sites aimed at exchanging information, fostering synergies and increasing their visibility among German World Heritage sites.

In their June meeting, the Interreg North Sea Region Programme’s Steering Committee approved the project “PROWAD LINK”.

With her design for the trilateral Wadden Sea World Heritage Partnership Center the Danish architect Dorte Mandrup was able to prevail over high-caliber competitors. On 22 March 2018 Wilhelmshaven's Urban Planning Officer Oliver Leinert handed her the first prize of the international architectural competition.

On 23 March 2018 a ground breaking ceremony signalled the start of decontamination works of the Banter See Park. It is the future site of the trilateral Wadden Sea World Heritage Partnership Center to be constructed on the currently fallow area around the bunker.

On 23 March 2018, the three national delegations of Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands as well as advisors from the Wadden Sea Forum and the NGOs Waddenvereniging and WWF met for the 23rd meeting of the Wadden Sea Board (WSB 23). The meeting was held at the Wadden Sea World Heritage Visitor Center in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.
