Successful PROWAD LINK project partner meeting on Fanø (DK) with focus on co-creation

On 20 to 22 May 2019, the PROWAD LINK project partners and network met on the Danish island of Fanø. During the meeting the partner laid special focus on the work packages that aims at developing innovative offers and products in a co-creation process.

On Monday, the trilateral Expert Group Sustainable Tourism met to discuss the implementation status of the Wadden Sea World Heritage Tourism Strategy.

On Tuesday, a workshop was held by Janne Liburd, Professor of tourism and Chair of the Danish Wadden Sea National Park, on how to use co-creation when developing new products as part of the project deliverables. The main principles of co-creation were explained and practical exercises were conducted on how to take peoples personal stories and motivation into account when developing a product. For example, participants told each other why they work in their jobs (national parks, tourism organizations, NGOs, research). Many participants highlighted their contribution to nature conservation as one of the main drivers in their jobs which they would like to be reflected in co-creation of products.

On Wednesday, Sofie Valbjørn, Mayor of Fanø, welcomed the partners to their official second partner meeting, where the status of all project work packages was shared.  During another workshop, partners explored key trends in global tourism supported by the European Tourism Futures Institute (ETFI) at Stenden University in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands, as kick-off of their research in PROWAD LINK. The partners also had time to explore Fanø’s cultural and nature sides. Anne Husum Marboe showed building with traces to the very beginning of tourism on Fanø and Kim Fisher introduced the guests to Sønderho beach island, where both Sønderho's history and the wonderful nature meet.

The next partner meeting will be held in Norfolk, United Kingdom, in November 2019.
